After final grades are posted, some of you will have received an IP grade. This grade stands for “In Progress.” It means you will have to take DSPW 0800 or its equivalent again, but your GPA will not be affected.

44. Final Exam Part II

The essay exam portion of the final for my sections is being given in LRC 218 (the Math Lab), Thursday 4/28. Times are every hour on the hour from 8 AM to 4 PM (there is a break for lunch from 12 to 1, no exams will be given then). Bring a pen of blue or black ink and some scrap paper. Do not skip a class to take the exam – if you have a conflict, please contact me via e-mail.

43. Final Exam Part I and DRT’s

The multiple-choice part of your final exam (Part I) will be given in class on Tue/Wed depending on section. Please have a #2 pencil with you. Have the final draft of your research paper as well, with the peer editing sheets stapled to the back (I do NOT need the first draft).

As you will notice from your syllabus, you have something called the DRT to do – this stands for Diagnostic Review Test. Starting tomorrow (Friday, 4/22) this assignment will be live in MyCompLab. Once you log in, on your home page you will see a “To Do” box – follow this way: To Do > View My Assignments > Due > DRT. (You can also use the “To Do” tab, or you can click on the green clock in the calendar on the home page).

The DRT is a pair of 50 question multiple-choice practice tests that will help you study for the final. Note that the DRT is REQUIRED. For the MWF sections, it is due by midnight on Tuesday, 4/26. For the TR sections, it is due by midnight on Monday, 4/25. Try to time yourself on at least one of them – give yourself 45 minutes, no textbook.

IMPORTANT: The final deadline for labs 6 – 10 is 8:30 AM, Thursday 4/21. No late labs will be accepted for any reason.

38. Pearson Submission

As discussed in class, you need to send your revised first draft to Pearson Tutoring services by next Wed/Thu, depending on section. You must bring proof of submission with you to class on those days. Here is what you do:

1) Log in to MyCompLab.

2) Home > Composing. Copy and paste your research paper into the blank document on this page - don’t forget to fill in the essay title box. Then scroll down and on the right hand side you should see a box labeled Tutor. Click on the link and follow the directions. Describe the assignment as a compare/contrast research paper.

3) Back on the home page, you will see a box labeled Reviews. After you submit, you should see “Pending” in new reviews. Within 24 to 48 hours, you will have a message titled “1 Available” in that Review box. Print it, read it, use it. Bring that feedback with you to class for credit.
